Last weekend I enjoyed a much needed relaxing staycation. I booked my staycation at the Melrose Georgetown Hotel. When considering a staycation I pay attention to four important factors: location, suite decor, staff friendliness and attentiveness and restaurant quality.  Melrose Georgetown checks each credential off the list. The location of the hotel is perfect, there aren’t many occasions where I have the time or pleasure to stay in this area of DC but last weekend I was happy to work and relax at the luxe Melrose Hotel.

Typically I travel to the neighborhood of Georgetown to shop, have my hair done or dine. Last weekend, I spent quality time with my partner eating, working and enjoying life. The weekend started with dinner at Jardenea. Jardenea is an award winning farm-to-table restaurant that I recommend everyone to try at least once. The wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable. I ordered the sea bass dish. The fish are flown in three times a week from Hawaii and are caught in a self-sustaining way – two thumbs up. The bass was seasoned so delicately and plated so beautifully, it was a five star hit for all five senses.

It’s so important to have accommodations that are better or mirror your expectations. The rooms and suites at Melrose Georgetown are spacious, comfortable and well lit. The natural light lends to an at home felling- a home away from home vibe. I don’t usually bother the front desk but this weekend I wasn’t as prepared as I like to be and if I wasn’t thirsty, I was hungry. The staff was more than happy to assist and did it all with a smile. The comfortability coupled with attentive staff made my stay welcoming and memorable.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to utilize the fitness area or the library filled with hundreds of literary gems but I loved each square foot of the booked suite. I specifically utilized the rooftop deck attached to the suite. In everyday life, I don’t usually take the time to breathe in fresh air but on a staycation when the goal is to unwind I would be remiss to skip the opportunity.

Take a look at some of my favorite moments from the staycation.
