Is music inspired by fashion? Or is fashion inspired by our favorites in music (see Kanye)? Maybe it’s a mix of the two. As we see celebrities merge the various avenues of being a quote unquote, creative. Let it be designing, deejaying, producing, acting, or signing.
I am most interested in those who do it and do it well.
Anyone can choose to be a crossover artist, producing music for one genre or the next. But those who a true creatives, that have talent in all fields that allow them to express their creativity – those are the trailblazers. Those are the ones to watch. I’d have to assume our generation can only see but so many. For example, very close to the top of that list is Virgil Abloh. Despite black twitter dragging him for posting his (Milan) team on social media and not seeing a melanin graced face in the bunch. He’s cleared up the confusion. His team outside of Italy is “…as diverse as the world is big.” OK! * snap snap*
DeeJaying is the new golf
As I ramble on, I say this to say. If you’ve been under the radar for about a year, Virgil Abloh, the creator of Off-White is also a DJ. So, in addition to being the creator of a massive streetwear brand and the Artistic Director of Menswear for Louis Vuitton. The first black man to do so – might I add! Yup that guy, he’s added DJ to his title and has headlined tours over the years. Most likely in a city near you.
Get into his tunes on Spotify.
